Get Bent's
trademark style!
Colourful,
Energetic &
Uplifting
"Get Bent's
Bollywood
Bellydance"
style is a
high-energy,
vibrant and
modern style
that is
exclusively
taught at Get
Bent. This
unique style
blends belly
dance with the
upbeat dance
moves, popular
music and
colourful
costumes of
India's
"Bollywood"
movies.
This style is
well suited for
group
choreography and
stage
performances.
Particularly,
this style
incorporates
many of the
story-telling
elements and
hand movements
of Indian
"Kathak" and
"Bhangra"
dancing.
Why Bollywood
Belly Dancing??
I thought Belly
Dancing was
Arabic not
Indian.
Although most
people associate
belly dance with
the Middle East,
many historians
believe belly
dancing actually
evolved from
India's temple
dances.
Through the
centuries, the
nomadic
"Gypsies" of
North India (The
Romany people)
spread their
music and dance
through the
Middle East and
North Africa.
The "Get Bent
Bollywood
Bellydance"
style honours
these Indian
roots and puts a
modern twist on
this ancient
dance. For

If you want to
learn a
high-energy and
modern belly
dance style for
a fun night out
dancing,
"Get Bent's
Bollywood
Bellydance"
style is a great
choice.
When most people
think of belly
dance, they
picture Egyptian
Cabaret.
This classical
belly dance
style is often
performed by a
solo dancers in
restaurants.
Egyptian Cabaret
is elegant,
graceful and
feminine;
therefore, many
people call this
style the
"Ballet of Belly
Dancing".
Costumes are
extravagantly
decorated with
shimmering
beadwork.
Egyptian Cabaret
is done to
traditional
Middle Eastern
music and
rhythms.
These classes
teach the
classical
elements,
techniques and
rhythms of belly
dance.
Further, these
classes are
ideal for
developing
proper posture,
balance,
coordination and
grace. All
serious students
of the art
should have a
strong
foundation in
Egyptian
Cabaret.
Further, the
moderate pace of
this style is
ideal to learn
combination
movements,
fluidity and
control.
These classes
also introduce
veils and zills
(finger cymbals)
to enhance
movements and
rhythms.
Tribal Fusion is
the antithesis
Get Bent's
Bollywood
Bellydance
style.
While Get Bent's
Bollywood style
is energetic,
upbeat and
colourful,
Tribal Fusion is
slow, dark and
mesmerizing.
Tribal Fusion is
a modern belly
dance style with
a gothic
industrial feel.
It is often
performed to
modern music
with a deep
urban vibe;
however, Tribal
Fusion music
varies widely.
Tribal Fusion
movements are
highly
isolated and
require
performers to
develop great
control of their
body and mind.
The Tribal
Fusion style
also
incorporates Hip
Hop elements
(such as
popping) and
folkloric styles
such as
Flamenco.
This intense and
commanding style
completely
envelopes its
viewers. The
music and
costumes are
totally
distinctive and
very cool.
This style is
well suited for
improvised solo
or group
