PULSE! TOUR OPENS TO RAVE REVIEWS

Local touring production “PULSE! The Spirit of Rhythm and Dance” opened to rave reviews last weekend at the Vernon & District Performing Arts Centre and Creekside Theatre in Lake Country.   “We were so excited!” exclaims Wendy Williams the show’s Artistic Coordinator. “We received standing ovations both nights!”.  Tour Coordinator John Goudie states “PULSE! is brand new so people are still hearing about the show, but the energy and feedback from the crowd was so amazing and positive.  People were still dancing in their seats at the end of the night.”  PULSE! continues its tour this weekend with a second show at the Creekside Theatre in Winfield on Friday night.  Then on Saturday, the tour moves to the Sagebrush Theatre in Kamloops.  People can buy tickets at the door or call the theatre box office.  Later in the month, PULSE! comes to Kelowna and Penticton; although, the Penticton show is nearly sold out.  People can listen to music samples and see an overview of the PULSE! tour at: www.PulseTour.com

PULSE! was co-founded by Williams and Goudie of Get Bent Yoga and Belly Dancing in Penticton as a touring celebration of our region’s culture and talent.  Last summer, the pair recruited a cast of sixty diverse local performers to develop the 2.5 hour music and dance extravaganza.  Since the show highlights so many interesting performers from our communities, the tour has received valley-wide support.  This year’s PULSE! features exciting Latin music and dance, interactive African drumming, mesmerizing poi spinning, lively youth hip-hop dancers, exotic Middle Eastern fusion music, and the show’s highlight a stunning belly dancing troupe.  The show’s performers include The William Leggott Jazz Trio, Common Pulse Drummers, The Barefoot Profits and the Get Bent Belly Dancers.

With the show’s diversity and talent, a number of people said the tickets are a great value.  Many people also said they were amazed by the belly dance performance saying it was far different the traditional dancing they had seen in restaurants.  As one happy spectator exclaimed, “I have never seen anything like this.  I’m telling all of my friends to go to your next show!”
