Wendy Williams,

of Get Bent
Yoga
Wendy fell in
love with yoga after after retiring
from competitive
gymnastics.
She began studying
Iyengar Yoga with
Bobbi Goldin at the
Yoga Institute of Miami.
Visiting Miami
twice, Wendy has
taken both the Level
1 and advanced
teacher training
from Bobbi. Wendy
has trained with
Sean Corn, Rodney
and Colleen Yee and
David Swenson.
Wendy's father lived
in Tibet as well
India for many years
and while teaching
English at the
Tibetan School of
Performing Arts, he
spent his years,
prior to family,
studying in the
monasteries. Wendy
was taught Mahayana
Buddhism at a very
early age. Her
teacher, Geshe Pema,
who did her formal
initiation into
Buddhism in 2005
recently took
refugee status in
Canada and currently
resides in Calgary,
making him
accessible for
workshops, and
continued education.
Geshe Pema had been
to the Get Bent
twice to offer
teachings and
lectures, and in
August of 2010
performed Wendy and
John's traditional
Buddhist wedding
ceremony.
Wendy is
passionate about
enriching the lives
of seniors through
healthy activities.

developed the
Cardiac
Rehabilitation Yoga
Program accepted by
Interior Health to
improve the health
of people with heart
conditions.
In 2007 and 2008 she
served as Vice
President of the
South Okanagan
Seniors Wellness
Society and in 2009,
as President.
Providing in depth
instructor
development training
throughout BC, Wendy
frequents Kamloops,
Nelson, Cranbrook,
Victoria, Vancouver,
Vernon and Kelowna.
Her focus is on
alignment and
education of
the body and yoga.
Wendy believes that
if individuals
improve their
understanding of
anatomy the
mechanics of the
body, physical
development, injury
prevention and pain
management can
benefit greatly.
In 2010 Wendy
developed the chair
yoga instructor
workshop series that
has been accepted
and implemented
throughout assisted
living facilities in
the Okanagan.
These 3 hr
workshops, for
assisted living
recreation
coordinators and
activity
facilitators was met
with great
enthusiasm.
Wendy developed Get
Bent's own teacher
training course, a
one year program
with a heavy focus
on anatomy,
mechanics, asana
break down,
philosophies of
physical development
and the psychology
of teaching and
learning.
Teachers have come
from throughout
